Who can apply for a scholarship?
Students who are U.S. Citizens majoring in:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering
- Physics
- Precision Machining
Note: The Foundation does not provide funding for graduate-level studies.
What colleges or universities are accepted?
Most accredited U.S. colleges and universities are accepted.
When do I have to submit my application?
Your application form and Mechanical Test must be submitted by February 1st. The entire application package must be completed by March 15th.
How do I take the Mechanical Test?
The Mechanical Test is proctored by the school you are attending or by prior arrangements made with The Dearborn Foundation.
When will I know whether or not I have received a scholarship?
Students will be notified by letter from the Directors by the end of May.
What happens after I receive a scholarship notification?
Following your notification, you will receive a packet that includes:
- A “Letter of Understanding” that must be signed and returned to the Foundation.
- Instructions to provide the following items:
- A current photo of yourself.
- Your college ID number.
- Your school address and the department where the scholarship check should be sent.
Important: Scholarship payments will not be issued unless all four items are submitted.
Can I apply annually for a renewal scholarship?
Yes, if you maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher and continue pursuing a degree in an approved engineering major or precision machining.
